| WHY A TIE TRIBUTE TO ALL DADS? |
The Sarro Well at our home, Rose of Sharon, was adorned with hanging ties in this year's Fathers Day Special Tie Tribute, as one of our ways to honor my father, Joseph L. Sarro. He served in the Army in WWII, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and after the war ended, he returned home. Joseph Sarro went to Fordham University on the G.I. Bill, like many veterans, and he met and married the love of his life, Antoinette Sarro, a teacher. He went on to law school, became an attorney and served in the Court System in the City of New York and was a wonderful Dad to six children. Although he experienced the ravages of war, he came home, served as an attorney and remained a gentleman. WHY A TIE TRIBUTE TO ALL DADS? Joe Sarro was a gentle man, who liked simple things, tending his vegetable garden with tomato plants, his lawn and red rose bushes for my mother, dancing like Fred Astaire and taking off and hanging up his tie from work to finally be "at home" with his family. The are millions of "G.I. Joes," like Joe Sarro, who served and are serving their nation in the military, away from their families and there are other fathers and grandfathers who have helped us and are currently helping us as good, gentle citizens. We could honor these great Dads and Granddads with a tribute, by hanging up ties to let them be "at home" in spirit everywhere. Honor your Dad and all Dads by hanging up a tie in a wonderful place. Happy Fathers Day Weekend.
